Overview

The possibility of conflict, including armed conflict, extending to outer space exists.

Increasing geo-political polarisation, and the congested and contested nature of outer space ensure that cooperative use of space is always fragile. The exploitation of, or interference with, space-based commercial, communications, navigation, and sensing functions and capabilities thus touches upon myriad strategic, operational, regulatory and governance challenges.
