This collection contains original manuscripts, correspondence and other papers relating to the writing of New Zealand-born Australian performance poet Eric Beach, chiefly comprising poetry but also including prose, scripts and songs. The bulk of the material is arranged in chronological files, including a small body of his early writings composed before arriving in Australia in 1972

Poet, playwright, and short story writer, whose works have been anthologised in five published collections. Born in New Zealand in 1947, Beach moved to Australia in 1972 where he became active in the Australian performance poetry scene, presenting at workshops, readings and literary events. His poetry collection Weeping for Lost Babylon was awarded the 1996 The Age Book of the Year Award - Dinny O'Hearn Poetry Prize, and was joint-winner of the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards - Kenneth Slessor Prize for Poetry
