Literary
The papers of David Parker comprise drafts, manuscripts, correspondence, reviews, and news clippings primarily related to his novels and works of fiction. The bulk of the collection relates to two of Parker’s works, namely Building on Sand (1988) and The Mighty World of Eye : Stories, Anti-stories (1990)
1985-1990
Author David Parker was born in Adelaide in 1943, and attended Adelaide and Flinders Universities before receiving a Doctor of Philosophy from Oxford. As well as writing numerous humorous short stories, Parker’s criticism pieces have appeared in publications including The Critical Review and Quadrant. Parker has lectured in the English Department at the ANU and been Chair of the English Department at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1989, his novel Building on Sand was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Literary Award.
